Upon completion of this educational activity, participants should be able to:   

  

  • Provide a historical context for current data on HIV drug resistance

  • Discuss various factors that contribute to the development of HIV drug resistance

  • Interpret data on the incidence and extent of transmitted HIV drug resistance

  • Provide a rationale for the utility of HIV drug resistance and tropism testing

 

Purpose Statement and Target Audience

 

The purpose of this activity is to provide clinicians treating HIV- and hepatitis-positive patients with an effective educational program in a succinct and incremental format on the complex topic of viral resistance that takes into account the evolving nature of the science while providing clinically-relevant information.

 

The program is intended for all healthcare providers treating HIV- and hepatitis-positive patients, especially those who are seeking clinically-relevant and comprehensive information on viral resistance.
